So that’s it!!! The 10th Need for speed from EA Games is here under the title Need for speed: Carbon.
The name Carbon came from the Californian valley called Carbon that is often a witness of illegal races of American off-springs. It’s evident that races in a valley are one of the most dangerous at all. One little mistake and it can be over (sometimes that could be your last mistake) – and this is the style that guys from EA Games choose and they did good decision.
You can participate in those furious races through valleys nearby the center of everything important – City of Palmont in three locations (Carbon canyon, East canyon, West canyon).

As we used to see in other games from NFS series, we will race in different game modes.

In Carbon you can choose from::
Circuit (Traditional race at the circuit)
Sprint (Race from the point A to the point B)
Speedtrap (Race which tests your top speeds in various parts of town. The racer with highest sum of top speeds is a winner)
Canyon Duel (Maybe the most difficult exam – a furious race down the valley)
Canyon Race (Another race down the canyon)
Drift (Make some drifts on a closed track – very popular in Japan)
Canyon Drift (Drifting through the canyon)
Time Trial (Traditional race through checkpoint – the time is your enemy)

The storyline:
The story begins in where last NFS: Most Wanted ended. You became the No. 1 illegal racer in Rockport and the No. 1 in a Blacklist, so you moved yourself and your blue-white BMW3 to your real hometown – Palmont City. Immediately after your arrival, a Rockport enemy Sergeant Cross starts to pursuit you and the result of this furious man-hunt is your destroyed car under a trailer. But there’s someone to help you to rise. At the beginning, everybody is hostile, even your ex-girl Nikki (played by an actor and model Emmanuelle Vaugier). But why? You will solve this during by many short videos of director Dave Footman. After the introductory video you can choose from three cars and you will need to learn drive tactics of the Crew team that is crucial for your in-game progress.
Team abilities:
- tuning experts by groups (exotics, muscles or tuning) – both styling and performance
- drift masters
- experts on cops
- blockers – suitable for blocking enemy’s car off the road
- drafters – very helpful during pursuit
- scouts – know every short-cut in the city

After choosing the name and symbol of your crew, you can get in your darling and drive. In the process you build your reputation and respect and seize new locations in the city that can be also under an attack of hostile gangs.
In that case, you can only jump in your cast and fight for your area. If you seize area successfully, you will meet the boss of area and you’ll have to win races in the city and in the canyon. The game ends when the entire area is yours and you will understand why nobody liked you at the beginning.
And why we are talking about this game at Tuningmag.net? Because of there’s a tuning, although not so much. You can change your bumpers, doorsteps, alloys, spoilers etc. The best is the look of alloys and paintwork. There’s a normal, bonbon, chromic and metallic paintwork. First time in history EA Games used the AutoSculpt, a tool which allows the player to customize the modifications (alloys, bumpers, doorsteps, spoilers). That’s a really nice element.
