The Porsche Cayenne has started a new chapter of its successful story. After for years of 1st generation, there’s the second one. The new, more attractive Porsche Cayenne, Porsche Cayenne S and Porsche Cayenne Turbo will obtain new engines with direct fuel injection (DFI). These DFI engine reduce fuel consumption about 8-15%. New Porsches are available from 24th February 2007.
Its basic version has now 40 hp (29 kW) more and the whole output is 290 hp (213 kW). Also volume of cylinder is bigger – 3.6 liter compared to the stock’s 3.2. The torque is 385 Nm (75 Nm more) and also driving properties are remarkable. A 0-100 km/h run takes only 8.1 seconds and its top speed is 227 km/h. „Old“ Cayenne can do this in 9.1 seconds and reaches 241 km/h.
Thanks to the new DFI system and the „VarioCam Plus“ system of cylinder management; Cayenne S have now a 4.8 liter V8 engine without a compressor that produces 500 Nm of torque (420 Nm in past model) and the final output is 385 hp (283 kW). That means 40 hp increase.

This big boost allows reaching 252 km/h and accelerating to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds. (242 km/h and 6.8 seconds in case of its predecessor). Impressive values are by the most powerful version Cayenne Turbo. The increase of power is 50 hp (37 kW). A new V8 engine powered with twin turbo is now capable to produce 500 hp (368 kW) and 700 Nm (620 Nm before) of torque. This monster can beat 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and fly at speed of 275 km/h (5.6 seconds and 266 km/h before).

Also like the original Cayenne, also this version includes the PTM system – Porsche Traction Management. In a standard mode, the engine power is transferred between axles in ratio 62:38. In case of need, the disc clutch can transfer 100% of power to the one of the axles.
The Porsche Cayenne Turbo is based on the pneumatic chassis with a system of active suspension (PASM - Porsche Action Suspension Management). This can be upgraded with a new system of dynamic stabilizer (PDCC - Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control). The system is also available for other models. Limits of tilting and balancing are improved in all driving situations. Cayenne offers big improvements in handling, stability and comfort.
The Porsche Stability Management (PSM) is a system that helps in braking; a next generation stability system and off-road ABS are standard in all Cayenne models. These functions improve reactions of brakes, reduce yawing and optimize brake performance in the exterior.
