Skoda Octavia RS tuning by ABT Sportsline!

When a classic sports car is too expensive, or/and not so much useful, Skoda offers one solution of this problem. It’s a new model of Skoda Octavia RS. The vehicle is build in two versions - liftback and estate with a turbocharged 2.0 TFSI aggregate producing 147 kW (200 hp) and cooperating with a six-speed manual transmission.

Safety
The Electronic stabilization system includes ABS, regulation of torque (MSR), acceleration slip regulation (ASR), brake force distribution (EBV), electronic differential shutter (EDS) and driver steering recommendation (DSR). Octavia overruns its competitors with default EDS and DSR. The level of safety is secured with four airbags (two fronts and two sides) and head airbags for extra pay.

Design
Also in you rearview mirror you can notice that this approaching Octavia isn’t some usual model. The RS has a big grill of ram cooling installed into the elegant bumper with rounded fog lamps on its sides.

The profile of the vehicle includes aluminum 18“ rims, extended sills and the wing on the rear edge. The rear part is characteristic with its visually greater, single-colored bumper. But the double exhaust tip is quite lost in there. It’s far cry from perfection so some tuning there is necessary.

The first things you notice are the seats in combination of smooth leather, alcantara and skid proof knitware have some nice sporting accent. Metal pedals fits with the design of the car. Aluminum design is also noticeable on the interior lining, gauges and shift knob. The short and exact gear change is perfect. The leather coated three-armed steering Wheel is adjustable in both axes and in wide range. Also its space is better than in the case of its older brother. There is more space on the rear seats and the 560 liter trunk is great for family shopping or mountain trips. The rear seats can be folded and that means some really big space for everything you need to transport. Usefulness of the trunk is enhanced with the ski tunnel with one ski bag.

Drivetrain
The 2.0 TFSI engine has plenty of energy. Direct injection with turbo charging and equally graded six-speed transmission give the engine flexibility compared to the modern turbo diesel engines. The engine has great traction also from in the range of low revs.

The engine produces only the best it can and it’s seconded with massive sound expression, while running equally without any turbo lags. 100 km/h can be reached in 7.5 seconds and top speed is 243 km/h on the 6th gear. Its average fuel consumption is at least 10.5 l/100km if we want to enjoy the power moderately.

Suspension
The 18“ rims are booted into 225/40 tires. The ride is lowered and springs are tougher than in the classic new Octavia, but it’s still very good family ride.

SKODA OCTAVIA RS ABT TUNING

The fastest Octavia II RS after some changes made by ABT Sportsline is undoubtedly a real sports car.

The reputable tuning company ABT Sporstline has focused on the Skoda Octavia RS powered by the 2.0 TFSI engine with direct injection producing 200hp and 280Nm of torque.

ABT offers two variations of engine improvement. The first one is 240 hp version. The second one offers very nice 270 kp at 5700 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 2900 rpm. So this enhanced Octavia RS can accelerate to 100 km/h just in 6.5 seconds and reaches 251 km/h.

Customers can choose from a few models of rims. To be specific, there are 17“ Z4, 18“ Z6 or 18“ SP0 or 19“ rims SP1 in titan or silver realization. The 19“ version includes Continental SportContact 2 225/35 R19 tires.

Also the harder springs are available. They boost the sporting character and lower the ride about 25 mm.
